Urs Lang was named Assistant Professor in 1997 and since April 1, 2001 he has been Full Professor for Mathematics at the ETH Zurich.
Lang was born on May 23, 1964 in Thun, Switzerland. He studied mathematics at the University of Berne and the University of Freiburg i.Br. where he earned his doctoral degree in the area of hyperbolic geometry and minimal surfaces.
Following this he visited the MSRI in Berkeley and the University of Bonn and worked as a research associate at the ETH Zurich and Stanford University. His field of research is differential geometry and related areas.
